UIC SUAA Chapter
The UIC chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) mission is to preserve and protect a strong public pension system and healthcare for all UIC SURS members – annuitants as well as employees.
SUAA keeps a close eye on pending legislative action and lobbies in Springfield to be sure our views are heard. It informs its members of any threats to its pensions or benefits through a newsletter, emails, and events held at UIC (later posted on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person).
SUAA has a large, bipartisan political impact because SURS has over 200,000 members of whom 16,000 are SUAA members living in most senate and representative districts statewide. The UIC chapter has over 1,500 members.
Membership is open to all SURS members, including current employees, retired individuals, their spouses, and their survivors who will or are receiving benefits from the State Universities Retirement System. Annual dues can be paid once a year or by deduction from monthly U. of I. payroll or SURS benefit checks. Further information on applying for membership may be obtained by clicking here.
