Ashish Sen is Professor Emeritus at UIC, having retired in 1998 to take a position at the US Department of Transportation. His last position at UIC was Professor of Urban Planning and Director of the Urban Transportation Center. He also had an appointment in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. He has been a member of SUAA for many years and, in addition to being 1st Vice President of the UIC chapter, serves as Chair of the Budget & Finance committee (ex officio) and Program committee Cochair. He has also served on the CTA Board, where he was Vice-Chairman, and the Chicago School Board.
